Fr. Sands Near the Saint Kateri Rosary Walk Nativity Nicho

October 2022 Newsletter

Generosity

We would like to thank Rev. Henry Sands, the Executive Director, of the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions for recently taking the time to visit us here at the Saint Kateri Rosary Walk.  Rev. Sands was in the Gallup area last week and we were able to meet with him and show him the architectural renderings of the Rosary Walk project.  We also enjoyed the opportunity to give Fr. Sands an onsite preview of the work, albeit, still under construction.

The Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions has been helping Native American people with their projects since 1874 and have sponsored the third Joyful Mystery, the Nativity of Christ.  Fr. Sands was able to see the artwork and the set of nicho tiles depicting the Joyful Mystery.  We are very grateful for their patronage and sponsorship of a nicho.  Generosity allows us to continue the work that God has asked us to perform for His greater glory.  It is very humbling and difficult to ask for required funding, but when it is so generously given, the effort is made much easier.

May our good God bless you,

Deacon Ed and Anne Schaub

Save the Date:   Saturday, December 10, 2022

Save the date for the second Saint Kateri Rosary Walk Pilgrimage.  We will walk from Zuni Pueblo to the Rosary Walk site.  There will be a bus following the pilgrims to act as a “sag or transport wagon” for those who want to walk short distances.  Last year it was cold, but the pilgrims took the early morning weather in stride and the day was a blessing for all participants.  There will be a Mass at the Sacred Heart Retreat Center Chapel following the pilgrimage.  More information will be forthcoming.
