Join The Most Comprehensive “Man Building” Program in the Catholic World!

For the fifth Summer in a row, college-aged men can apply to join a unique, paid ($5,000) Summer experience building a shrine by hand in the desert southwest honoring the first Native American saint…Saint Kateri Tekakwitha. The internship runs from May 27 to August 4, 2024 in Gallup, New Mexico.

The Southwest Indian Foundation is accepting applications until March 15, 2024 to fill a limited number of positions in the “Catholic Pueblo Revival Paid Internship Program”  in Gallup, New Mexico.

You will serve as “missionaries” to the Catholic Diocese of Gallup, performing manual labor to help build the Saint Kateri Rosary Walk by hand. You will learn how to use traditional southwestern building materials and techniques. The highly structured program includes spiritual and academic formation for the “missionary interns” as well as opportunities to travel while experiencing the life and history of the Catholic Southwest.

Deacon Ed Schaub, Executive Director of the Saint Kateri Rosary Walk, said, “I think when you look at saints like St. Kateri, she is an incredible example that we try to emulate, and we are trying to reflect who she is in this project.”  “The whole effort of this project is to bring everyone and anyone to God.”

Those who are accepted, will receive a stipend of $5,000, free housing and most meals for the entire summer program.
