This coming Friday the 21st of October the joyous and blessed 10th anniversary of the canonization of Kateri Tekakwitha, Lily of the Mohawks will be celebrated.
Under the pontificate of Pope John Paul ll, she was beatified in 1980 and canonized by Pope Benedict XVl at Saint Peter’s Basilica on October 21, 2012. Various miracles and supernatural events are attributed to her intercession. She has a large and immemorial following of many Native Americans not only here in the Diocese of Gallup, but worldwide.
Bishop Wall and a contingent from our diocese traveled to Rome to join the massive crowd present as she was proclaimed Saint, the very first Native American to be officially recognized as such.
May our good God bless you,
Deacon Ed and Anne Schaub
